Hi Guys, how many times have you slipped your Yukon or Tahoe in reverse and only wished you could still see exactly what was behind you? I solved this problem and in a HUGE way. Right now you can get the "Roadshock LED 3" Flood Light" (you saw it correctly, they are a 3 inch cube) from Harbor Freight for $20 instead of the normal $30 cost. They currently have two different lights available. Both have 4 CREE type LED's that put out almost 1000 lumen's. They have a SPOT light and a FLOOD light model. I chose the Flood light model and mounted them under the back bumper. GMC even has a mounting bracket on each side of the bumper. A few minutes identifying the reverse light wires and splicing into them and BAM.....Daylight behind your vehicle as soon as you put the vehicle in reverse. Also the current draw on the wiring is minimal since they are LED's. As an added plus the lights are even able to be submersed for those that tow a boat.

I had tried many different high dollar replacement lamps in the backup light socket but all proved to be a disappointment. Believe me THIS WON'T. I hope to have pics on in the next day or two but don't wait the sale is even for a few days and NO I don't have stock in Harbor Freight.

why not just do the HIGH beam mod way brighter with HIGH BEAMS for reverse obviously .. much cheaper with some cheap 3-4$ 886 fog lamps

I had some LED high beam bulbs that I JB welded into the housings for reverse lights. Works great just make sure they clear when mounted.

You can replace the reverse lights with LEDs. There are plenty of options on amazon and they’re cheap, like less than $10 each. I get plenty of light out of mine and they’re super easy to change out. The off road style floods will give you a ton of light but they just seem like overkill to me.

Which ones did you go with? Was just looking on Amazon and the reviews are mixed at best.

I first tried the LED replacement, using good LEDs, and while there was significantly more light, it still was not nearly enough for me. My driveway has stone walls on both sides, with no street lights, and I need to be able to clearly see them, when backing out in the evening.

I opted for two 8" LED light bars from Rough Country, and mounted them snugly behind the lower edge of the rear bumper, virtually invisible, and away from stuff kicked up from the road by the tires. I'm happy with them.

I'm glad to see from folks here the many different ways to achieve an acceptable backup light illumination.

These are the ones I installed back in March:

JDM ASTAR 1200 Lumens Extremely Bright 144-EX Chipsets 7440 7441 7443 7444 992 LED Bulbs with Projector For Backup Reverse Lights, Xenon White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NPIYDWU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WTD6Db67MV8RZ

I’m pretty sure the ones my last Tahoe had were made by VLEDs. LEDs have become so cheap and ubiquitous that I would assume most of the ones on Amazon will do the job though.
