I live in MS and from what I've read in this law, it doesn't require reflectors; just a light that emits red. Guess MS doesn't deal with alot of modding like in cali so they haven't thought of this; which could technically let me nightshade my tails.

"Rear lamps. Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer and any other vehicle which is being drawn in a train of vehicles shall be equipped with at least one rear lamp mounted on the rear, which, when lighted, shall emit a red light plainly visible from a distance of five hundred feet to the rear."

Opinions?

Seems like so long as you dont go rediculously dark, you should be ok. Here in TX its 2 red lights required visible from 1/4 mi. I've been down the track plenty of times in my truck with tinted tails and they're visible when i get to the end and I haven't had any issues with the cops yet. There are people around my town that have them stupid dark and I've heard of THEM having problems.

I live in AZ, and no problems at all. Just got rear ended also, and cops nor insurance said a thing about them. As it reads in that quote you got from your local laws, you should be fine. It will all depend on the state I guess. in Arizona it's pretty much ok as long as Red light is still visible.

as long as your lights are clearn ( one or two shades of VHT should be enough) and add a reflector at the bottom so your tail light shines if the car is parked. thats all. cops wont give u shit if you do what i did!

Well got my first ticket for em tonight. Got pulled over in entrance to my subdivision after work. It was a young cop and he said they had to be lit while driving, not just braking and turn signals. So back-up is 2 older cops, and they were complete ****** and said whole tinting idea was stupid and I was an ignorant dumba**.And they kept accusing me of being drunk/high because my eyes were funny because of over-the-counter allergy medicine. So I aced all their stupid tests. Anyways, young cop said if I put stocks on until I figure out how to get light to shine while driving, he'll drop the ticket.

just drive with your running lights on? normal tails dont shine light while driving unless the lights are turned on, or at night..

around here local cops dont care, but troopers will bust your balls for them every time
