Lets have fun with LED's

I remember a thread back on the old forum about someone who was playing with bulk LEDs...

So lets start from the beggining because I want to buy a bag of LEDs and the proper diodes...

I think 10mm would be the best option for a nice LED... which diode do I need?

I bought a bulk amount from Ebay, shipped from HK, seemed to work great but ended up on another project about the time I got them so I haven't has a chance yet to mess with them much!! They came with resistors as well!!

I found a pack of 100 for $15 but they do not come with resistors.

I have a few ideas for them that I just want to play with. I want to install a few in the center consol, I would like to rig them up to some sort of switch so when I open the consol they come on, I keep a lot of shit in there.

Plus I want to try some other things, I have an extra set of bumper lights that I want to drill some holes in and see if I cant 'mimic' those new audi lights. I want to drill a line of holes in the bottom of the bumper light and hook them up to the DRL's so that the DRL's run a line of LEDs instead of the bulb.

i picked up 100 5mm blue wide angle leds along with 100 resistors for $7.99 shipped from HK. took about 20 bus days to get them.

i put a blue LED in the back of my cubby hole.

but to answer your original question, a 470ohm resistor will be enough to bring down the 12v to 3
