So after i went to get my tune done, i came to fine out that my left flowtech header was leaking since i have a clicking sound inside my truck... So that means it needs new headers and not even a year old... Anyways, have anyone ran ****** shorties and if so, how did yall like them? Did yall spray ceramic coating on them and do a heat tape wrapping on them or do yall think thats not good thing to do to them? Or what do yall recommend...?

Also, i am getting new intake to replace my K&N cause i dont like it.. Thinking about getting that Volant intake? Do they come in as a dry flow intakes or no? or should i go with a AEM intake? Any ideas and performance inputs on these?

I am also thinking of getting a performance cam/crank shaft, any good ones that have great performance for the 350 engine?

Also looking at installing the efans on the 99 4 door 4wd HOE. What have yall liked about them and what kind of performance would i be getting?

I have the trango shift kit stage 2 with corvette servo on my stock trappy with performance clutches.. I heard i should have done my torque converter since its the reason why i hear a noise as if it was the radio... anyways, whats a good performance torque converter to instal on the HOE?

Frank:

I can answer your question on the volant intake. I just put one on my 96 last week. I spent the big money and bought their kit with the dry filter. It has awakened my tahoe more than I expected. But I do have three complaints about the volant kit. First of all their directions suck. But if you are mechanically inclined, not too big of a deal. Second, the flexible sleeve they send you to connect the MAP to their intake tube (called a sleeve) is about 2" too short. Least it was on mine. I used the stock accordian tube until the FedEx'd me a 5 1/2" sleeve. Third, the hold down screw/washer set up intended to hold down the intake tube to the top of your TBI was not well thought out. Go ahead and get your self three fender washers. Once you get your set up bolted down you'll see that the ****** little washers you get from them will pull through the slots of the intake tube. Grind your fender washers flat on one side and use them inplace of volant's flat washers. I don't understand why such a well engineered set up could fall flat on its face with poorly thought out fastenders.

Headers are notorious for not being true (flat across the exhaust ports). If you put a straight edge across the face of the exhaust ports, you would probably see where they are off. It doesn’t take much.

I had the same problem. One cylinder on each of the headers kept blowing the exhaust gasket. I took them off, did a “fly cut” on the mill to make them true and they have been perfect ever since (8 years).

If you have access to a mill, it is a cheap fix. :)

Now how would i do this again? lol it sounds like something i could do my self... Before u had it milled, did u have like a ticking sound like if it was coming from inside ur cluster and it would click every time u stepped on the gas peddle?

I have had many headers break on me, all of the THREE sets where Headman. We junked them and went with JBA plated shorties, great fit and no leaks.

On a side note, if you take the K&N off I need one for my Suburban.....

Shorties are not known for the best performance. I have them because of emmisions and they were a bolt on unit that was way better than the shit I had.

On the K&N, keep me posted, if he falls through I may still need it

Yes.. I know shorties blow balls.. Well will do custom with long tubes in the future.. Yall member how i went with the 350 small block, i was telling dad how i regret not getting the 383 engine back in january... anyways, maybe will have to install that as well in the future... all depends if i decide to do it and find someone that will buy my current engine that has 15K with 3 years warranty unlimited miles..

And will def keep u posted on the K&N

Bowtie, they are $230 at amazon if that is cheap enough for you to get now.

Thats not bad.. Yall mine is a year old and if i let it ago in about a month, i will be asking around roughly 15o-180.. I bought it for like 325 if i can remember here at the local performance shop witch i got ripped off... lol
