2017 Tahoe have had issues with liftgate not finding position and just going up and down without stopping at the top. Module has been replaced, struts and lock assembly. Been working on vehicles for 30 years and it seems to me the door can’t find the stopping point. GM dealer thinks it’s the harness, I’m curious if the position switch in the header is the issue. TIA!

I just want to confirm that you replaced the two support struts and located them on their proper sides (the 2 struts are different). If the struts have deteriorated to the point where whey will not support the weight of the tailgate, it will come back down when you try to raise it.

Also, have you checked the wiring harness in the headliner. There was a TSB for my 2011 that related to a pinched wiring harness causing issues. It was pretty dangerous and would close on you while pulling stuff out of the back end. I especially noticed it during the winter when the extra weight from snow/ice would “cause the liftgate to think” pressure was applied at its highest point. Basically going up on its own, reaching its peak but not stopping, and instead coming back down.
All of my hardware was replaced. Drove me nuts until a year or so later when I found the TSB.
