I see on most lift kits, they supply a shock spacer or extender. Could you just buy aftermarket shocks and do away with these spacers?

Yes you can as long as you don't have the air ride system, or the Auto leveling shocks. (Nivomat)

Alright, I have a 2010 hoe LT. I am looking to give it just enough room for a 275/60r20 Nitto Terra Grappler. I have purchased the bilstien 5100 shock that adjust to 1.75 inches of lift, but my plan was to keep the shock at stock length and just buy a leveling kit from CCM Offroad. Does anyone have any insight? i went with new shocks since I am almost at 60k and the roads in NJ have absolutely ruined my shocks and I got them at a killer price.

That should fit with a potential for some minor trimming. I have 285/65/18 and had to trim ~2 inches off the front valence. However the Z71 has a little less wheel clearance.

Yeah, i went with a 3inch front with 1.5 rear. i am going to put on the bilstien shocks, but keep them at stock height. i don't want to deal with any rubbing at all . I just want to ride higher up and not get stuck in the snow out here.

Watch your CV and driveline angles if you are using just a spacer lift. IMO 3" would be the max without a diff drop and cross-members.
