Hello everyone let’s just say I had a very long night and very disturbing and upsetting one to say the least. I was taking my family down for kids under the age of 10 and my wife to see her father or grandfather rather and we broke down before we got there. The car was running beautifully OK it’s a 2021 high country suburban 6.2 L never had any issues before with 22,000 miles on it. All of a sudden out of nowhere I start to feel a little thump or jerk and then it continued to get worse followed by multi system failure Alerts traction control ECS the whole 9 yards. I had to have it towed to a local shop today and I am in limbo for right now. Based on the sudden onset of the jerking sensation which was very subtle at first almost like a feeling you get when you ride over expansion joints on a bridge or overpass, and then it got progressively worse following that as I said it started giving me error and ECS failure, traction control failure etc. I run odb2 diagnostics and it was multiple misfires and one was “permanent” etc and they would not go away, it also started smoking at least from one of the exhaust if not both . Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. It definitely sounds like it’s a lifter issue I’m pretty mechanically inclined and this is an absolute first for me especially after spending $90,000 plus on a car very disappointing.

FYI I am using voice text so I apologize for any grammar or fragment sentences

Update 5/16

Just got word from the dealer that it was the lifters. Now inam waiting to hear if they are going to replace all of them for all 8 cylinders
Cylinder 5 lifted collapsed - replacing lifters is the text I got. I am a

That sucks…I just went through the lifter problem on mine when it hit exactly one year old last month and 9,200 miles.

Good news for me is the dealer that I took it to actually had the parts on hand so they had me up and running in about 3 days. Most though on here that have the issue are not that lucky.

Hopefully they get it fixed quick for you but that’s my fear is running into the issue again. They only replaced the left side lifters that were affected on mine so I suspect it’s just a matter of time before the right side have the same issue. My engine does fall within the affected month is…Feb ‘21 is the engine build date…vehicle build date was March ‘21.

Dude that’s such bs. Come hell or high water they better replace both side or they will not get a single sale for the fleet of cars I have for my employees. I will switch all of them just out of principal. I’m furious. I spent over $90k and this was not now, because prices are absurd right now, this was a year and a half ago so when prices were “normal”. 90k+ Is a substantial amount of money. I am not sure what we paid but it was definitely over $90k. Sorry they pulled that crap wirh yoy. Serious. I don’t understand the logic behind that besides being cheap for a few dollars in parts

What is your build date? Is it in the Mar 21 timeframe? Sorry this happened, hope GM makes it right by you!
I can’t remember but once I get it back I will definitely update you. I thought it was out of the “concern” period. Most the lifter issues seem to come from vehicles with less miles so I thought I was out of the woods to a degree

You’re probably outside of that window since there was a one month lag behind my engine build date and the vehicle assembly date.

The engine build date is not easy to get to…I crawled under mine behind the driver’s side wheel and it’s in Julian date format located on a white sticker affixed to the engine block further up from where the left 4WD driveshaft is located. I can’t take full credit for that location…got it from another post on this forum.

Thanks…I’m not a fan either. I tried for both sides and the dealer claimed they haven’t seen another one come back yet, although my guess is it happens too often when out of town and another dealer has to replace the other side.

From other forum posts on here, it sounds like they do run into issues. Also, I’m not sure where they magic number of 8,000 miles comes from their lovely TSB…under 8k they do all lifters but above 8k they only do one side which is where my luck fell at a little over one year of ownership and 9,100 miles which I do agree is complete bs.

I did call Chevy customer service to complain and I’m pushing for them to throw in an extended bumper to bumper warranty, although I’ll probably get stuck with their 4 year maintenance plan and some GM points.
