Correct, but that's only for the final assembly of the vehicle. The engine build date is significantly (1-3 months) earlier.

You mean weeks? Ive seen weeks not months. Source???

Hello everyone let’s just say I had a very long night and very disturbing and upsetting one to say the least. I was taking my family down for kids under the age of 10 and my wife to see her father or grandfather rather and we broke down before we got there. The car was running beautifully OK it’s a 2021 high country suburban 6.2 L never had any issues before with 22,000 miles on it. All of a sudden out of nowhere I start to feel a little thump or jerk and then it continued to get worse followed by multi system failure Alerts traction control ECS the whole 9 yards. I had to have it towed to a local shop today and I am in limbo for right now. Based on the sudden onset of the jerking sensation which was very subtle at first almost like a feeling you get when you ride over expansion joints on a bridge or overpass, and then it got progressively worse following that as I said it started giving me error and ECS failure, traction control failure etc. I run odb2 diagnostics and it was multiple misfires and one was “permanent” etc and they would not go away, it also started smoking at least from one of the exhaust if not both . Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. It definitely sounds like it’s a lifter issue I’m pretty mechanically inclined and this is an absolute first for me especially after spending $90,000 plus on a car very disappointing.

FYI I am using voice text so I apologize for any grammar or fragment sentences
I had a similar drama/dangerous travel weekend with similar issues/warning lights. It ended up being a broker rocker arm, after the dealer assumed it was the lifters. I was looking forward to replacing the lifters, so I got the worse case scenario, a bad broken down travel experience and still have the lifters to worry about! Come on GM, you are killing your brand and loyal customers! I have a deposit down on a Toyota Sequoia, can't want to end all the worry/stress/disappointment (which is real bummer and I love the looks of the new Tahoe over the Sequoia...but safety is more important!).

Isn’t the rocker arm a symptom of a lifter going bad?

This is all very disturbing as a retired GM employee I've owned nothing but GM vehicles since the 70's. I've anticipated this latest model years in advance but now I'll never own one. I considered buying a CT5 but come to the conclusion it would be subject to the same corporate ineptitude as GM's other brands and models. My last hope is that the Sequoia pans out. My hope is that everyone who falls into this can climb out whole. Working for GM is something I am no longer proud to say.

Reposting this in this thread too only because it's the same subject...

Check this shit out…the latest GM TechLink publication shows on Page 4 they recently updated the TSB from 8k miles to 16k miles related to the TSB for the lifter replacement, meaning that if you have less than 16k miles they'll replace both sides.

Here's the biggest kick in the crotch for me...mine was just worked on less than a month ago at 9,100 miles and they only replaced the one side. I contacted my dealer and they see the TSB was updated on April 26th. My vehicle went in for service on April 25th and they got it back to me on April 27th. So while it was being worked on, the TSB was updated to replace all lifters when I only got the left-side replaced.

The service manager was going to ask his GM rep if they can bring it back in to have the other side replaced, but he's seen other situations like that where since the service ticket was opened prior to the TSB being changed, they won't honor it. So in other words, I'm back to waiting for the other side to go bad. Still waiting on confirmation from the dealer, but from his description it doesn't sound likely.

I guess it pays to know people. I grew up with the guy that’s now our manager at the local dealer. He was able to get both banks replaced for us even though we had almost 30k miles. Gives me a little more peace of mind the wife won’t break down somewhere with the kids
