Liftgate handle broke a few months ago and replaced by mechanic. This weekend, handle has broken (popped out) again.

1) Would assume the handle used for replacement was a Dorman. Can find OEM on Ebay, for a little bit more monies. Worth spending? or better off getting the Dorman again?

2) what should I be looking for, to help understand why the handle broke in such a short period of time? usually adults operating the liftgate, with no one under 16 attempting to do so. Struts probably need to be replaced but wondering if there is anything else I need to consider.

Thanks in advance.

If it was a Dorman part it might have a lifetime warranty. Check with your mechanic or research online.

Popped out, as in broken part, or not installed correctly? I use the handle carefully, I pull on it, and once it is disengaged, I pull from the lip. The first trunk went to 2023 and 270K on the original handle, and so far the second. How did the first fail?
