Hi guys, New here and have a question I hope someone can help me with. I recently purchased a used 2004 GMC Yukon xl Denali. I have owned it for maybe 3 months. 2 nights ago I went to open it after it had been sitting for a week and when I hit the fob unlock nothing happened. So I tried the key ( one and only key they gave me with vehicle) no dice. :wtf: Key turns but it's like hardware in the door is not connected to it. I can rotate it 180 degrees. At this point it was dark and late so I left it for the next day. So yesterday I was able to break into the engine compartment and put a battery charger on it. Soon as I hooked that up the horn chirped and lights flashed. GPS that had probably drained my battery came on. So I charged the battery. Currently have 13.4 volts and still the doors will not unlock with the keyfob. The lights flash but thats it. Could the truck be in some kind of protect lockdown mode? I've pulled the neg terminal for maybe a minute and reset it this morning still no dice. Today after work I plan on trying my luck with a coat hanger to get into the vehicle. Will breaking in and starting somehow miraculously reset everything back to normal? Or is there something else I should try first. Open to suggestions as this thing is starting to drive me nuts...:chair:

Hi guys, wanted to update this thread in case anyone else runs into this problem. I ended up breaking into the cab using the coat hanger method. Once I inserted my key in the ignition and started the vehicle the system reset and the keyfob began working again. I took the door panel off the drivers side door and found the bar that connects to the door lock had fallen out. I fixed that and now everything works perfect.

FYI There is a key/power lock in the rear bumper by the license plate. It uses the key, but it power unlocks (it may only unlock the tailgate, but hey that'll get you in).

EDIT: I'm incorrect in my info here. The key in the bumper is a keyed pull out plug used to secure the spare from being stolen.
