Sold my diesel to get back in a tahoe. In my search i came across a good deal on Yukon Denali. Its just over 100k miles. Has the 6.2 and is all wheel drive. Which are the two things im worried about being as ive only had 5.3s that were 4x4.

Any bad experience with the AWD?

What about the 6.2 motor?

Any input is welcome

Anddd just from reading into the other similar threads. I can say im already leaning towards paying a little more for the 08 tahoe i had picked out. It was a private seller a fewer hours away which makes it a pain to work the deal but it only has 82k miles and seems to be in immaculate shape. I just worry about all the fancy stuff on the yukon giving me problems

The awd doesn't give a lot of issues and the 6.2 is just as bulletproof at the 5.3. Some say they even get better gas milage out of the 6.2 and of course, they love the extra power on tap. I wish I would have paid more and got a yukin denali over my yukon slt.

400 horse in the 6.2. Definitely notgas station friendly. But if you can afford it then you probably aren't worried about the 12mpg you'll get with the awd. Check diffs. If you hear a clunk it's probably just a slip home that needs greased. Also the Denali and eskys came with 6 speeds which are way better than the 4 speed found in earlier tahoes/burbs. You'll get more options with the Denali and the resale is higher. I'll never buy a 5.3 again, the 6.2 is a monster.

What about the air shocks i know people talking pretty negative about them. I put a lot of miles on my last two tahoes and plan to try to do it on this next truck. Trying to avoid buying anything with that cause unwanted problems. For example air shocks that i dont need because i never tow anymore

It's a necessary evil if you want an LTZ/Denali/esky

My compressor went out and I got the dealership I bought it from to fix they ride better but cost more. Just check for leaks.

The problem I a whenbyou blow a shock and the compressor continually runs and burns itself up. Just be on top of it. If they go out you can do a passive conversion. But they ride really well, that's why there there.

How does the awd work? Is it always engaged or engages when rear tires spin or what

There is a 60/40 power ratio. 60% of the power goes to the back, 40% to the front. Limited slip rear. All four wheels always get power.

I'm at 165 no problems my 05 debali 170knno problems. My 07 was leveled with 33x12.50x22 and no problems. You'll be ok don't gonhigher than 2" in the front though, you'll be too close to your droop stop above 2"
