Thinking of buying a 2000 LT from a good friend. Car has 150,000 miles on it, average wear, and a pre-purchase inspection listed the following work that needed to be done:

- Transmission flush
- Tune up
- New rear brakes

Seems pretty routine but does anyone know ballpark cost for a shop to do that work? Thanks in advance - anything else I need to be on the lookout for?

Average guess could be anywhere from $250 to $750 depending upon labor rates, quality of parts, etc.... Could be as cheap as $150 to DIY.

Most folks would advise against an actual tranny "flush" at this point.. Just a "service" makes more sense... And costs less!

The purchase price would be $3,000 and then I would have the work that needed to be done (around $750 let's say).

Also need to repair or recover the driver's seat. Any suggestions on that? Standard wear for a car of that age - rip on bottom / side nearest the door and worn arm rest on the driver side. I have seen what look like some decent covers - any suggestions on this vs. repair?
