While I would love to get in a 2015 Yukon SLT/Denali, I can't justify spending $60K for the wife's next ride. She currently has a 2007 Durango 5.7 Limited 4x4 with 115k miles, no issues. Just getting a little old and little stuff is annoying me. Just time after 6 years to get into something newer.

She wants a Yukon XL Denali. My main gripes are no push button start and HID headlights. She doesn't want an Escalade, too flashy.

I've been looking, seems a 2012 XL Denali AWD can be had around $40K with less than 50k miles. Was hoping to get one around $35K but that doesn't seem to be happening. What are people getting for trade in on these? Is $35K for 40K miles 2012 realistic?

A few more questions:

1. Do the heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, defrost come on with remote start depending on outside temps?
2. Does the AWD with good all-seasons perform nicely in the snow? Her Durango with Michelin LTX A/S2 is a tank.
3. Can you easily hack the OEM navi to see what's playing on the rear DVD and start/stop/go through menu? With young ones, its a PITA to play DVDs while driving.
4. With the dual DVD players, can you play 1 DVD on both screens? Can you also play a different DVD on each screen? Or is there only one DVD player and 2 screens?
5. Does Corsa make an exhaust for the XL? I see on their website only for regular Yukon, I think.
6. What's the popular/best route to get real HIDs on this thing?
7. Does the Denali have LED tail lights?
8. Any major changes between 2012, 2013, and 2014?

I think that's it for now :D

I say yes it's unrealistic. You are going to get 50-60k miles for that price and it will be slim picking.
At 50k its about out of warrantee and there are possibly several items that will need maintenance that are coin 2 examples are
Suspension
Door lock and window actuators

Depending on how DIY you are everything is pretty much able to be done at home.

I personally think you are better getting one that certified for a lil more com. So you can get two years of no worries.

Yeah, going to try to find a certified with under 50K for $38K or so. Will just wait and see how they go. Logged into a Manheim account and see they are going for over $40K at auction, so might be a while. Might get a 2015 SLT 4X4 for $50K soon, people are getting them for $58-60K new.

For question 1; heated steering wheel will NOT come on with remote start

1. Do the heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, defrost come on with remote start depending on outside temps? Everything but the steering wheel
2. Does the AWD with good all-seasons perform nicely in the snow? Her Durango with Michelin LTX A/S2 is a tank. Yes. Its a beast.
3. Can you easily hack the OEM navi to see what's playing on the rear DVD and start/stop/go through menu? With young ones, its a PITA to play DVDs while driving. Overhead, yes, with a lockpick. Headrests - no, different system.
4. With the dual DVD players, can you play 1 DVD on both screens? Can you also play a different DVD on each screen? Or is there only one DVD player and 2 screens? Dont know.
5. Does Corsa make an exhaust for the XL? I see on their website only for regular Yukon, I think. Yes
6. What's the popular/best route to get real HIDs on this thing? - Proper - Retrofit Headlights. ~$1k. PnP HID Kit - $100
7. Does the Denali have LED tail lights? No.
8. Any major changes between 2012, 2013, and 2014? No.

You should be able to find one in that price range. Ive seen some here in that price. Just have to look at all avenues. Values on used ones are always higher this time of year. Tis the season to want a 4wd SUV.

I guess I would question if you really need the AWD, if it's going to be used in the snow a lot, then I would get it. If only for the once or twice trip up the hill, then maybe look at the std 4x4 system. I really like the AWD in the Denali, but if it's only needed 1-2 days a year I can't see the extra coat and maintenance needed.

Can you elaborate on a std 4x4 system? As far as I know all 07-14 Denali's or Escalades are either 2wd or AWD.

IMHO your Durango will go places the Denali cannot. For most circumstances you will be fine, but if you ever had to use 4W low to get out of a jam you will be shoveling if you encounter the sam situation with these trucks! Jeep/Chrysler have really good 4wd systems which you cannot compare to an AWD GM system.
