I live in Oxnard, CA, and I'm looking for an engine rebuild service. The engine burns oil pretty bad, but thats the least of the problems I think. Lately, if I even remotely stress the engine, the service engine light will come on, the throttle becomes slow and unresponsive, and the idle drops from about 900rpm to about 500rpm, and it just becomes very unstable.

I have done a bit of work to it lately but it hasn't helped, including flushing coolant system (which had block seal in it), changing spark plugs and wires, a fresh oil change, and a fresh battery, thinking that the drops in voltage might be causing it. None of these things have helped the issue. The vehicle has 183k miles on it, and until about 4 or 5 months ago, I had no issues with it. After the truck has sat for a while after the service engine light has come on, the performance will return to normal, with a normal idle and throttle response time.
