Where can I find a new 1.5 stereo head for my 96 tahoe. I've checked out Details' 2 din conversion but I think now I want to stick with 1.5. I know I can go with a 1 din unit and an adapter face plate. Any suggestions as to where to find one?

Use crutchfields "outfit my car" function on there website. They also have face adapters ans well as amazon and local stereo places like bestbuy or other car stereo places.

Thanks for the feedback. I"ve been on crutchfield.com and quite a few other sites looking for a 1.5 stereo head. Unfortunately both Alpine and Pioneer have quit making those. There are some out there but I am suspect of their quality.:imo:

Go with a single din from Crutchfield and they will give you the adapter for chassis and wiring for free. does it really have to be 1.5. if you want a specific unit cheaper eBay or amazon it and by any adapters you need. mine is a single din and the adapter was $10 at amazon. Any add-on modules went into the glove box(still need to clean it up a bit).

Thanks Sunlitcomet! I will not be looking for a 1.5 din on mine either. Your great advice will be used when I'm looking for a head unit for my Kon.

Here are some more pics of what was stuffed into the center pouch. The chassis adapter is to the right of the soldering iron.
