Looking to get back into an obs, Buying Advice

I have my BMW on Craigslist and some guy wants to trade me his 1999 Yukon Denali 4x4 164,000. He says it's in good condition except for some small issues. The one is that the passenger side of the grill is cracked because of a deer and the other is a electrical problem. He thinks it may be a bad ground somewhere and that it doesnt effect the drivability of the truck. I don't have pics yet. What should I look for when looking at this and is it worth my time to trade him or is this going to be a lemon?

I ve just been lurking around and recently bought one. The one I bought literally nothing but the engine and trans worked, and I got it home. These things are built very simply and I was able to solve all my electrical gremlins pretty easily.

But he hit a deer. I thought I just had a cracked grille on mine and it has damage to the core support.

I looked into converting my front end to a denali and the parts for it are more expensive than what I paid for the truck. $2000+ if I recall correctly. So consider that it may have underlying damage you cant see. I'd go look at it and decide. Dont take anything from Craigslist at face value.

I was told just a few dents, so I drove out to get mine and I almost turned around and left, luckily its all pretty minor body damage and electrical work.

Any history of his maintenance?
Trannies and rear ends have a bad reputuation on our vehicles.
Intake gaskets and fuel pumps are notoriously bad as well.

check the usual... oil, oil pressure, check if the trans shifts all gears and basically just drive around and see if you find anything wrong with it

I bought my 96 2 door off craigslist with a blown engine but the truck only had 135k and i had a 70k L-30(305) in a trashed 96 p/u....just go look it over good and hope the seller is honest.

I have a good truck for my 18 yr old stepson to drive and have < 3k total invested.

Okay so I found out that the front turn signals don't work, the radio powers on but no sound and the blower doesn't come on at any speed. Does anybody know what this is?

Find another one... their cheap and numerous you should be able to find a good one for under 2500 with no issues...
