looking To Install Factory Nav Radio. Have Some Questions First

As I said, I don't use the Nav but I believe you need the Nav disk in the player to use the Nav. Which mean's if you don't install a 6 cd changer, you can't play CD's when using the Nav. I had to buy an aftermarket unit to use the backup camera. (forget the brand off hand) Got it from ebay. IMO a backup camera is well worth it. I can backup up and put the ball directly under a trailer hitch with no problems. Plus normal backup views.

Hmm okay that makes sense about the nav disc I guess. Not a big deal since I don't have any CDs. I have a 6 Disc changer now and its pretty worthless to me haha. Well I wasn't aware you could make a camera work with that radio. That's pretty cool.

Sadly, I am now leaning towards an aftermarket setup after crunching some numbers. I can spend about the same amount of money on an aftermarket headunit with the interfaces I need and the features I want. Still deciding though...

This is the Kenwood system that I have in my ride. I do have both Onstar and Bose (I don't use Onstar). It looks great and works well with my Bose.

Yeah that looks nice. Did you need any interfaces for steering wheel controls or door chimes or anything? The main reason I was wanting a stock radio was so that nothing would really change much.

Yes. I ordered a PAC interface (don't have the part number handy) from crutchfield. It maintained my steering wheel controls, rear entertainment system, Bose sound system, factory chimes, and Onstar. However, only my wireless headsets works with the rear entertainment system making the two wired headphone jacks useless. I can also play audio from the rear DVD to all of my speakers if I choose too.

The only thing that I don't like about the set up is that if I mistakenly hit the car phone button on the steering wheel, my radio will shut down to let the phone turn on. This is only a pain because after I cancel out the phone, the radio would have to turn back on again which takes sometime to do because its loading up the GPS system.

Since I dont use the car phone, I've been looking at finding a way to disable that system so I don't have to worry about hitting the button by mistake again.

The headphone jacks not working isn't a big deal for me. As long as the wireless ones work fine. Are you talking about the OnStar button on the steering wheel? Do you need OnStar to activate that call feature or is it entirely through the HU? My OnStar doesn't work at all because it hasn't been updated to a digital system. So if the OnStar is causing that problem then maybe mine would be fine.

Also the one I'm looking at came from a 2005 H2. Do you know if that would still be a non lux? The number is 15800000

yes, that is a non lux unit. Also, I did this mod to my 06 Sierra and 06 Yukon. The TNR 800 radio is light years ahead of the base radio and it really woke up the BOSE system. I can hear my tweeters on the a pillars now. Not to mention the bass is stronger, as you have EQ controls also.
