This truck is eating me alive in gas. Im getting roughly 50-70 miles on 1/4 tank. I have no idea what I can do to try and get it to get higher mileage. I honestly love my truck and dont want to get rid of it but paying the gas bill on this truck is getting down right ridiculous. Im trying to work 40 hours a week and going to be a full time student on top of it and I will be spending more in gas than a make a week!! I have heard you can get a K&N cold air and get another 1-2mpg and im thinking about running my tire pressures all at 45psi(oversized 285s). Would putting a flowmaster on it save some gas? or make it worse? I have no idea.

Maybe it's time to let it go and concentrate or your studies and not worry about MPG and $$$. buy a more economical ride and when your done with school and have a good job buy another one. if your getting 10-14 around town thats about it.

Give up. It's never going to happen. Get a old civic to go to work with.

Damn. Even if you could get a mpg or few more it won't make a economic difference.

For instance if you gained 1 mile per gallon. That 25mpg per fill up. Which would mean you save 1-2 gallons at a difference of 8 bucks a week. It's more cost effective to quit buying a coffee a day or brown bag Lunch.

I am getting 9 mpg average. Believe me I have done the math coming out of a Camry that would average 20 something.

It's a lost cause.

50cc scooter for $500. Gets 50mpg. Or ride a bike.

Trying to get more MPG out one of these things is a lost cause. I'm contemplating going back to a station wagon or even getting a minivan to get more than 20 hwy mpg, but I will probably buy a cheap cbr600 or something before I do that.

But I only put about 500 miles a month on mine so it's not a big deal to me.

But spending $200 on a K&N neutralizes any fuel savings you might get for the next year or two, assuming a cold air intake saves gas...which it doesn't. Flowmaster won't do anything either besides cost more more in gas because you want to hear the motor more. I got the best gas mileage stock with 245s. I was getting about 17 mpg hwy. Now with the bigger heavier wheels and tires I am getting about 15-16 mpg highway.
