Hey Everyone,

Could you guys please point in the right direction for Supercharger Kits for our 5.3L V8s?

I would like to make good power, be a direct bolt on and RELIABLE!

Help?

Also, if you have or had a Blower on your Tahoe, could you please tell me your thoughts? What setup did you have? Tell me everything you can please!

Thank you!!

Magnacharger TVS 1900. Supercharger connection dot com. Ask for Brian.

Do it, instant torque and tons of fun to drive. Here is a video of mine with the old-style MP112 Magnacharger:

Another one for good measure:

Feel free to ask if you have any questions. I did a ton of research before I bought mine, so you will probably have the same questions I did.

Had it for about 3 years now and haven't had one problem with it. Just install it, get it tuned (Wheatley, Nelson, Blackbear), and you're good to go. Then you can always get carried away with headers, more boost, cam, larger heat exchanger, etc. You will probably need a built transmission if you start making real power (over 450 rwhp).

Thank you TX!

So are you happy with the TVS 1900? Pros? Cons? I can't tell from the videos, but, does it have a nice Blower Whine? (I hope so! :school girl giggle:

I was actually looking at this setup along with the Vortech/Lysholm Twinscrew Supercharger System and a Vortec Setup. All 3 seems to be the 3 most popular Blower setups for our 5.3L Flexfuel engine. (Maybe a Whipple.)

With the blower, exhaust, intake, (Volant), heads, cam, I will be making NICE power.

BUT my dimlima comes with the money I'll be spending on making the Tahoe fast, that money will buy most of an 05-06 GTO 6.0 or another C5 ZO6!

My current ZO6 is a track prepped road race car. (not streetl legal by ANY MEANS. LOL. So I am looking to add another car to the stable along with my 997 GT2.

Thanks for all of your help buddy!! I appreciate it!!

I was also planning on running E85

SW CT,
Everything TX said...times 2! I am running a TVS 1900 on my 6.0 Suburban, have about 12-13k on it with the blower...no issues. Brian at SuperchargerConnection.com and his crew are top notch and do what it takes to make sure the customer is completely happy and comfortable with the sale. For tuning I use Justin at BlackBear, spot on tuning with tons of experience in boosted applications.

Here you go: http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/forced-induction-159/radix-vs-trick-vs-sts-vs-356429/

The TVS offers instant torque, while a procharger/vortec centrifugal s/c will build boost at 3000rpm+ and be a highway screamer. If you put a higher stall tq converter in (maybe 3000), then that will make the power more usable around town, but your mpg will go down. For a daily driver in a heavy truck, I would go TVS as a Tahoe needs that low end grunt to get it moving. The TVS is quieter than mine (the older MP112 blower), but it should still have some blower whine. There are a ton of youtube videos floating around of them on GM trucks/SUVs.

If you are going to run E85, you will need the fuel setup to support it. It's needs about 30% more fuel than 93 octane. I am running 75# injectors and a Kenne Bell Boost a Pump and am at about 90% injector duty cycle (IDC), which is about the most I want to push it. If tuned right though, E85 will make 40-50rwhp more than 93. Mine is a night and day difference when I fill up with E85. Though with E85, your mpg will drop about 30%. I get about 9mpg around town on E85 and 12 on 93.

If you want to avoid the hassle of building up your Tahoe, I'll trade you mine straight up for you GT2 :)

Magnacharger is the most complete kit out there at the moment. But there are quite a few other good brands to consider: Whipple, SLP, Lyscholm.

I put a Whipple-Charger on my last tahoe... and it was FAST! the install wasn't too difficult if you are able to do that sort of thing, i think took me about 10 hours (i'm a perfecitonist) haha. The power was pretty impressive, i was able to dust off mustang GT's like nobody's business. The kit is nice, the twin screw setup is deiniftely the way to go... i didn't notice much parasitic drag on the fuel economy either... just my opinion!
