Radiator clogged, not sure if there was too much pressure on the old/original heater hose connections on the firewall or what. I imagine after 9 years and 200k miles they have done their time and were probably brittle though.

Fixed the connection, replaced the radiator, now I'm all set. Still can't explain the needles not working in the cluster, no hard codes present.

if it were me and there was still no gauges working I would try banging on the fuse box just to see if anything comes back, kind of the same theory as hitting an old tv set to make it work again, my youngest kid has an old tube tv in his room and the smack trick still works :)

After turning wrenches for 15 years, I don't hesitate to engage a flying elbow or swing a pry bar if needed. :)

The needle gauge thing only occurred for one key cycle/drive, all returned normal after that one trip. That is the weird part about that issue, as that same trip I lost heat in the cab and the truck ran hot for the first time as well.
