Loud Ticking Noise

Hi everyone,

I just joined the forums here and I have owned a 2011 Yukon Denali for almost 7 months now. The reason I joined is because my car has this very loud and annoying ticking noise. It usually happens during acceleration but in the last day or so I have noticed it when just cruising at a steady speed also. I bought the car new and it seems strange to have something like this happen. I will be taking it in for service mid week but wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue.

I'm sorry to hear of this issue with your Yukon Denali vehicle. There are several possible causes for the noise you are experiencing. Have you had to opportunity to have the vehicle inspected by a certified technician? If not, I encourage you to do so, they will be able to offer a more accurate diagnosis after physically inspecting the vehicle.

Have your lifters checked out. I had a lifter problem within the first year i had my Tahoe. The bad lifters in-turn ruined my cam.

Thanks for your concern. I took the vehicle in for an oil change, the noise, and a part of the sunroof that has broken two days ago. They performed the oil change and fixed the sunroof but they said that the noise was a faulty belt that they had to order. Hopefully the sound will be gone once it is replaced.

5.3 6.0 6.2 when they tick they are saying i need oil well with all the ones i had

Mine is an 09, currently 44K on the odometer. I got it at 33K miles, going on two years ago. I've got it in mine only it's faint at idle. Every now and then, maybe every 8 to 10 cold start ups, it is frightening loud. So loud I'm tempted to just shut down the motor. It warms up and stays at a faint level. I suspected lifters. I'm going to have to have it looked at after reading the post about the cam shaft getting ruined.

If you are getting ticking noise it means that engine is not fully lubricated and this is because engine lacks oil or oil pressure inside the engine is very low.
