I'm a loyal GM owner. I will absolutely buy another GM any day of the week, especially a Tahoe.
To start off, my first car was a Ford. Never again will I own one. The damn thing could smell a good paycheck and would break. And, it was never cheap. The next experience I had with a Ford was when I was dating my wife. She acquired her grandpa's 93 ****** Wagon. In the short time she owned it the alternator failed, which can be accepted. The seatbelt track/motor failed. I had to rig it back to keep her safe, and the transmission was dying when she traded it for a new Chevy Cobalt SS sedan (2.4 Ecotec and manual trans) in 2007. We still have that car and have not experienced a single problem with it yet. However, we have a 20 month old son and she wants to start working on baby #2. She needs a bigger car. She's been looking at a new Nissan Pathfinder which has 3 rows of seating. Since I work in auto parts I know it's a great vehicle, plus it's smaller than the Tahoe, which she likes. There are a few things that stuck out to me when I was collecting quantitative data on the Pathfinder. I know that parts are more expensive when compared to the Tahoe. Also, and this one shocked me, the fuel economy for a V6 4x2 is no better than my 2007 Tahoe. The Tahoe actually gets one better on the highway. Add 4wd and the fuel economy gets slightly worse. Upgrade to a V8 and the numbers get a little more worse. In my opinion, the Tahoe is a better deal than the Pathfinder. It's larger, cheaper to maintain, and more fuel efficient than the Pathfinder. That just strengthened my belief that I made the right choice to be loyal to GM.
Additionally, my resume will show that I've sold other brands and spent 7 years in rental cars. I currently work in auto parts. I've dealt with the problems of all the other brands firsthand. GM consistently shows its superiority to me. Although I will admit that there are a few vehicles they have made that really sucked.
