Why do you consider the LS motor an upgrade. I thought the entire model line came with either a 255 hp V-8 or a 180 hp 6.5 diesel. The LS and LT versions in V-8 both have 6,512 lbs. trailer towing. I thought LS and LT were just trim levels unless this is a bot.

I'm talking about the stock LT motor vs. an LS swap.

what year vehicle we talking about here ? there seems to be a bit of confusion on what you are talking about. LS , LT and Z71 are trim levels and are pritty much the same motor and tranny. gear ratios very.

My last truck was a 95z-71 pick up. It had a 5.7. It towed anything I hooked up too. This taho I haven't towed anything big but I like this so much better than the tbi. To me seems to have more power. But that's just me.my opinion do a swap if you have the means to do so. 6.0. Lq4 or lq9. I am doing a lq9 in my taho soon. Do your research first. I read for a year before getting to where I am now. You will have a bit more work to get it in a old truck like yours. But done right will be worth it. :2cents:

I would like an iron lq9 also when mine goes. What all is need for a ls series motor, is it a fairly straight foward swap

I am sure it will do it. Just haven't had the chance to do so. New trailer comming in the near future so just want to make sure I have more than enough power to do what I want it to do. And have fun doing it :chewie::elephant::pepper:
