To be honest, I have not gotten under the 07 Tahoe, but do all Tahoe LTZ's have Air Ride? Or was that an "option"???

The reason I ask is if all LTZs had the Air ride, then mine must be missing.

Thanks

yes, however you might not have noticed it because either there hasn't been enough weight on them to engage or they are cracked and / or the compressor is shot. Typical for them to start wearing out at about this age, just realize they are rubber just like tires and wear with use.

I noticed it did not have load leveling, when I went to Sams Club, and got a ton of stuff, it really loaded down the truck in the back to make it squat pretty good, probably 1.5-2" drop. So I thought it did not work or was not installed.

After I posted this, I got under it and looked, my springs are regular coil springs...

Next question... Is the Air Ride part of the springs, or the shocks? I have seen them both ways. My 83, 90 Riviera had it part of the shocks, my 05 Rainer it is actually springs (which also made it quieter).

Thanks

John

Thanks.

Autoride has regular coil springs with shocks. The shocks have a rubber bladder (air chamber) and an electrical connection (top) and air connection (below electrical). The compressor is mounted on the driver's side, behind the shock on the frame rail.

If you don't see the lines/ rubber bladder on your shocks, or the compressor, you don't have AutoRide, or the previous owner removed it for a passive kit.

If you do have it, it sounds like your compressor is shot. This past Fri I installed a new compressor and shocks (Arnott). The compressor was working, but the shocks were leaking. Since I was going to replace the shocks, I decided to do the compressor too, since stock and 7 yrs. old.

Ok... I do have the Air Ride...

Shocks still have the GM part number on them.

There is something wrong with it as it does not work... there are about 4 things that would make it not work
1) the shocks - should make motor run (which I do not hear)
2) The motor - not running, so a distinct possibility
3) The sensor - possibly
4) Wiring... slight Possibly as well...

Anyone have a troubleshooting procedure?

Thanks

Update... Checked Fuses, and they both appear to be fine. FYI there appears to be a 40A Fuse for the system itself, and a 15A fuse for the relay... Not sure where the relay is, it was not under the hood according to my Owners Manual.

If u pull the compressor u can bench test it (search and find write up). But, I'd bet it is bad. The sensors, little struts seem hardy enough, so I doubt they are the problem.
But after 7 yrs, the rubber bladder on the shocks are prob gone too. My $0.02, replace compressor and shocks. I got my kit from Arnott for just under $600.

Install was ok, compressor had a frozen bolt hold dryer, which u need to transfer to new compressor and compressor mount bolt broke too. Most time spent with that.

U will need to take the fender well shields off both sides. Also, I had long socket 21mm for shocks, but needed a short socket for top bolt on pass side. Ac lines in the way on that side, very tight.

Also needed my son to thread bottom shock bolts while I compressed the new ones by hand. Good workout.

The compressor is next to the rear driver side shock. Between the spare and tire. Close to the bumper. Amazon has the entire compressor w/dryer for $250.00. You can install it yourself: 3 bolts and 3 wires.

You would come out cheaper with OEM Struts and Shocks + Compressor from Amazon (compressor link above) ACDelco 580-451 rears are $180.29 (http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-580-4...7&sr=8-1&keywords=580-451&tag=viglink12184-20) ACDelco 580-433 fronts $189.08 (http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-580-4...id=1401894906&sr=1-1&keywords=ACDelco+580-433)

Good luck.

Attn: When you look on Amazon (ACDelco 580-451) will show that it does not fit your vehicle. It does...if you scroll down to product info...the part number is 19300071.
