OK fellas, i have been digging thru the archives on this for the last week.

2004 GMC Yukon 1500 4x4
I need/want to change the fluid in my rear diff, front diff, transfer case and tranny.

The problem i have is, im in australia. A quick stop to the local GM dealer aint gonna happen haha. I can find gear oil, atf and so forth by weight but not by the actual specified name in the owners manual or the Haynes manual i have. What sort of manufacturers make the correct replacement oils? I can get some valvoline, castrol and mobile stuff here, but nothing too out of the ordinary.

I have been hunting around to see the availability of royal purple here, but that stuff is literally more expensive than gold here.

I use the 4wd mode alot in the outback, so i need to make sure the system is taken care of, the fluid has never been changed since i have owned it, so i assume it needs it.

any help on this would make my life a while lot easier

I use royal purple, it is expensive, but also you dont need to change it quite as often. you may want to check out Mobile 1, as far as the tranny goes I wouldnt mix lubes because you still will have quite abit in the torque converter

Have you looked on Ebay for RP? I get all mine from Ebay. Granted you are in AU so it will still be more but if you stock up on enough for a few cases of oil, trans fluid, and gear oil form the same seller they may pay shipping. If not I'd go with Mobile 1 I reckon.......

I just got done replacing all of these fluids plus more! I did use Royal Purple gear oil in the differential. Just an FYI, it's quite a bit more expensive than other gear oils as well.

For the trans, I used valvoline maxlife atf. I spend a lot of time on bobistheoilguy.com and it seems to be one of the top atf's out there.

i would be happy to use RP, but the lack of it in the outback would amaze you. As is this internet connection is on copper cables,no fiber optic or anything. Oil technology isnt much better haha.

ATF if its AWD. GM Auto Track fluid from dealer if it has a 2wd - 4wd transfer case. There is no aftermarket substitute. Its $8.50(US $) a litre. It takes 2 litres. Mobil 1 Syn. Is good for Differentials
