I want to replace the stock lugs with a solid option.

The beauty covers on the stock nuts are starting to become loose. My fear is that eventually rust and corrosion will start to creep and there will be issues with removing the wheels.

The lug nuts in northern states get a mix of salt and water that can ********* under the stainless steel cover. Then it swells and thats where the issue comes in. Socket wont fit. The actual part of the lug nut where it touches the wheel at the conical hole should be fine. Another issue is the wheel sticking and welding itself to the steel hub. Aluminum and steel along with salt and water are a disaster. I used to live up north. Its really important to pull your wheels off and wire brush steel hub....I then put a light coat of antisieze on there so they dont weld up. People who never rotate get a stuck wheel. As per my tire shop they said stay with stock lug nuts as they have seen many issues from after market lug nuts. I would clean it up, and use new stock lug nuts.

Just stay away from 'capped' nuts. The last three in this graphic are solid. Others can be found on eBay, Amazon, etc.:

GM sells solid lug nuts that are nice. I used to be able to pick up a set on eBay for $30-50 but my last set cost me $82 but included a lock set. These are a dramatically better lug nut and I have a rubbermaid tub with hundreds of the crappy capped variety.
