Got all the old adhesive off the body today.

Also fitted some cosmetic bits- blind spot mirrors and new parking lamp assemblies. The OEM parking lamp assemblies were FILLED with water! Has anyone experienced this before? I've never seen or heard of assemblies full of water.

Anyway, after adhesive removal, i cleaned up the paint with a wash and then clay. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Tomorrow I'll be wet sanding the remaining dark areas and compounding/polishing- Always my favorite part of cosmetic reconditioning.

Anthonys obs is badass but sadly he wont take it offroading. After he blew up his t case he had to stop the fun and pursue his huge speaker build

Finished detailing the exterior yesterday. That chrome trim about tripled the time it would normally take to detail the vehicle.

Got the new stepper motors and LED's into the gauge cluster today. Stepper motors were pretty straight forward. LED's took some thought.

After consulting with an electrical engineer buddy of mine, we decided on wiring in some 517 ohm resistors (better for dimming), and some diodes to protect against reverse voltage.

Finished off the install with gobs of hot glue for vibration protection. I'm pretty happy with the result, although I might go back in there to sand the LED lenses a bit, as I have some hot spots on the gauge cluster.

Even before I bought the vehicle, I knew that this would be an exploration / expedition vehicle rather than a mudder or rock crawler. I don't think the long wheel base or the independent suspension or the transfer case lend themselves to anything too "extreme."

Do you happen to remember if it was an 80 series Land Cruiser or a 100 series?
