Oh hell yes!
Today, post mini-blizzard day was a good day for Magnaflowin' !
Muffler shop took their time and managed to get the cat pipes off without destroying the factory studs and it all bolted up easy as could be. Stock GM rubber exhaust hangers in perfect shape, no cracking, sagging, etc. Looking at the stock front pipes, cats and o2 sensors.....probably less than a year left before rust through. 12 years worth, they didn't owe me a thing.
Fire the Hoe up to back it off the lift......like music. Very controlled and tuned sound, no blatty stuff or staccato snap to it....nice rolling sound. If I can find the video camera I'll record it this weekend and throw it up somewhere for you to hear, but I doubt those little tiny mic's are going to do it justice.
Driving impression....smooooooooth. Right off the bat, the idle of the truck is noticeable smoother. It wasn't lumpy or jumpy before, but now, it's like the truck has new motor mounts or there's new plugs, etc. The tach doesn't waver one iota as if frozen at 600 rpm sitting in gear with the brake on.
Taking off from a light and rolling between 15-50 in town, the truck just feels more relaxed and refined with more snap. No chance for a full throttle blast, it was post-work traffic in a small town (2 lane roads) . Also interested in seeing how it does on this one section of road that is about a 10-12 degree grade and over a mile in length. At some partial throttle positions it would almost feel like the truck would hit a flat spot and "lose ground" if that makes sense, I'd have to push it past that point to have it drive normally. Between the O2 sensors and the new cats, it's definitely a better truck. Can't wait to see what happens with fuel economy in the next tank or two.
And then, contact Justin for a tune and dump that damned torque management crap. Can not wait.
