WOW!!! so when is it ok to turn him in? After his 2nd, 3rd, or 4th offence? This is the mind set that lets these criminals get away it until they kill someone or themselves then everyone wants to comment how stupid it was to drink and drive. And no it doesn't matter what we did when were 17 and happent to get away with it, chalk it up to stupid luck.

BTW: killer glad ur gettn ur trk fixed

I'm just saying that maybe a big scare with possibly his parents involved would be a bigger lesson then screwing the kid's life up with a DUI amongst other things... over what amounted to a dented quarter panel. Absolutely he was in the wrong; absolutely he needs to be taught a lesson. But does he need to go through the court system at 17? I just don't think is necessary. Sometimes a little mercy in a situation like this is what turns the person around....

Yes...I have done stuff I've regretted...but I've NEVER drove a vehicle after drinking..EVER...and I never intend on it either...I dont have ANY sympathy for people that do...I think they should be busted hard the first time!

Ya im not tryin to get him started down the wrong track. I mean if he was gonna deny hitting the yukon and refused to pay for it the cops were defiantly gonna be notified. But the issue was resolved without messing up anybody's life.

This is what I dont understand...it shouldnt be whether they are scared of the LAW or jail or court...the chances of being punished should NOT have anything to do with this....

People should automatically believe its the wrong thing to do because your chancing other peoples LIVES...It has nothing to do with DUI...or a record...or fines...he should have never WANTED to drive after he'd been drinking... :imo:

Your right...it was resolved...your truck is being taken care of....its not something to just let slide because no one got hurt..

He's already driving without thinking of the safety of other peoples lives...
If he stops because he doesnt want to get caught, thats the WRONG reason...He needs to stop to protect other peoples lives

I think most people can drive with a few in em. Shoot back in the day, everyone used to drive with a few in em. My teacher just admitted to being the "least drunk" and driving. Most people can after a few and not have a problem. driving trashed on the other hand is a little different. Everyone has their opinion! Lets have a civil debate on this one!!

I would completely agree with you if we were talking about a grown mature man. But in this case you are talking about a high school student. Possibly on his way to college, still immature. Cops and a record might not be the best thing to make sure he becomes a productive member of society.
