background
2003 Tahoe, black, LT package 5.3L 112k miles never any engine problems or transmission problems

outside temp lately - 94- 95 east coast

Well not sure if massive, hope it's not

First thing is that yesterday my engines oil temp went up 3/4 of the way, never seen it go above half the way, it was parked the outside tempt being 107 (was in busy parking lot) actual temp around 94, 95 degrees

i turned of, recranked and put engine up to 2k rpm - instantly went down

And for the last 4-5 days my gas mileage has been crap,

Yesterday, my tank was 3/4 of the way full, considering i had just put gas into it, about $80 so far this week, usually takes $66, filled it twice already at the time
Confused i went to fill the tank back up that 1/4 i some how lost, i usually drive about 30 - 50 miles a day to school, concerned i used 93 octane gas as i know that lasts longer then plain old 87
As of 18 hours later I've gone through that 1/4 tank already

My guage for gas tends to stay on full for about 1/5 the tank of gas, andwhen it reads 1/2 tank it usually only has about 1/3 left, which is whatever i could care less.

And today i also noticed my oil temp at idle was only 3/8 the way up, yet same temp as when over heated, also today i noticed my oil pressure was only at about 3/8 which was wierd, yet again the engine was fully warmed and it was hot outside

my gas mileage is crap, what do i do

Oil smelling liike gas, may be somewhat ok, depending on severity.
Sounds like it's running rich, like an injector.
Has the steppr motors on the actual gauges ever been replaced?
Is the oil level where it should be?

You have said that you have bad gas mileage lately -- how bad?

Fuel in oil? - That would require that an injector is leaking (stuck open) and washing a cylinder wall down and bypassing the piston rings - if this was the case the truck would run very poorly and smoke -- white smoke on start up and/or while running.

Only way to tell if oil pressure is accurate is to install oil psi guage on engine block or cylinder head and compare with instrument cluster guage reading.

Check engine light on?

Plugs/wires/ fuel filter/air filter/ maintenance?

Sounds like an injector, when you started it and it raced for a second , that could have been the fuel dumped in the cylinder. check the injector individually I believe check for ohms.
Remember once it gets fix change your oil.
