So does this mean a 2010 Esky can tow a 24' boat? We're planning on buying a new one soon so I figured I'd ask in this thread rather than create a new one.

zach2011: Depends on the boat. On Average 24' Boats with twin outboard motors and full trailer weigh 6000lbs+

150lbs Per foot on a 25' boat and smaller, not including accessories.

I had a 2008 tahoe 5.3L, 26" wheels, 2/3 drop, 4 people, full loaded truck (coolers/ luggage etc) to havasu towing my boat that weighs approx 4500-5000 pounds. It pulled it great, little harder up the big hills (outside temp about 95-105), trans temp got up a little, but really had no issues. I dont speed when towing so 55 mph no problem even up the big hills.

At 6300ft I tow 3500ish lbs and it is a little sluggish because the air is so thin. I know it will keep going but it's slower than it is relative to towing a similar weight at lower altitudes

I have pulled a 6500 lbs Donzi with no issues. What you have to be carefull of when towing is making sure you have good brakes on the trailer as well as knowing what your toungue weight is on the trailer. You also need to keep an eye on your trans temp, and installing a tranny cooler is not a bad idea either. I would also do a tranny service before summer as well.
Your Tahoe should have no issues what so ever pulling a 4000 lbs boat. That is the only reason I am driving a Tahoe and not a Cayenne right now is to be able to tow.

Absolutly Zach. An Esky is a pretty serious tower with that engine

What is the normal range for the trans temp. I have heard one member state that it should never get above 180 without causing damage.

Im pretty sure mine runs in the high 170's under normal highway driving with a fresh tranny service, so I dont think there is much truth to that. But it would not be the first time I have been wrong on a post.lol
