How the hell do you guys cut out the different images with such precision to superimpose on the truck picture?

Patience lol.. I blend a lot too with factory pieces to make it look factory. I will cut out the piece I want to use just a quick circle.. Nothing precise by any means. Then I copy and paste as a new selection over my image. I then manipulate it close to where it needs to be and then erase the outer edges, I erase at about a 20% opacity so it will blend with the factory piece..

I don't paint the trucks either really, after initial blend, I leave all layers open, adjust brightness/contrast to match original color (i usually use different color pieces which aren't the same as the trucks original color) Then I just use a color replacer on like 40-50% opacity.. Its like painting a real car. You have to do it in a smooth side to side flow to avoid overlapping and with one complete layer (not letting of the mouse) or you have to do it again lol

Just my style

I like the idea behind that alot.. chop work is sick too @ vix

different people have different schools of thought on this.. there is a tool called clone that you can set the opacity too and it can clone areas.. so like you can clone a piece of the body that doesnt have a blemish and moved it over to an area that does... say .. covering a door handle.. easier said than done but... its how i make sure i keep my colors the same and how i keep the truck with the same reality and textures from the original....

Then there is a liquid tool to pull ,stretch, bloat and pucker areas into place.. and there is transform tool which puts a formable structure (square) around the area you selected to form it into place.

THEN ..(me) if you dont mind losing some of the light and texture and want a more vector image like Vix is doing or like i had to do on my fender stretch.. you take this formable pen tool and use it to create vector-like shapes and color them back in the same color scheme and light patter as the existing truck.

Where it differs again is when i get a layer i like i do a composite layer, which is a single editable layer that sits on top and covers the rest of your layers..and color match by hand using vectors and hand paint.

Vix on the other hand does an open layer edit where the pieces are still separate and you can adjust color and range using more traditional photo editing tools.

Its fun.. but doing like a smooth clean version of something like my 2 door mod.. well lets just say making it LOOK easy just means you did a good job.. but i DARE anyone to do it in under 2 hours... lol.. bumper conversions.. stretching grills into place and the holes all still being the right size and shape.. that shit is WORK

Lol yes it is a lot of work.. That 2 door conversion was flawless... I like doing them both ways btu I find it faster to use my way lol Now if I was getting payed it would be different haha. I would jump on my desktop at home and use photoshop. Paint shop pro isnt as advanced as photoshop but I dont have a good enough laptop to run both lightroom and photoshop on locations. So it sux right now. I couldnt even save the full resolution version because I didnt have enough memory.. how bad is that lol. I will try to get to the house this weekend and hopefully get a full res in before this is over

I used to do this all day but with people, stretchmarks, pimples, wild hairs, tan lines, make up, greasy faces, you name it.. This is fun and a cakewalk compared to that..

My chops are more of a draw Chip Foose version.. Because thats the style I go for. I usually tend to design something that in reality can be done. I dont do too much imaginary chops... I invision a perfect truck that someone would love to own and use parts that are factual. I guess I try to be a photoshop version of Chip haha
