Spindles are always tough. Once you've done them they're always

easier the next time around.

Yeah. This would be my first. Tahoe going to sit till Sat. then I will try again when I'm off. Not sure if I should do the ball joints or have someone else do for me.

Yes they were... a BIG PAIN, (for me, in garage) hope not to do it again. lol

But my brake line is also rubbing on the shock, been like that for awhile, not a year, maybe 1/2 one, but ive noticed nothing either, except as stated paint rubbing. Shouldnt be a problem. For the ball joints, i did them myself, in a garage, w/ wrong tools, if you have the correct tools and some help, shouldnt be a problem, if your by yourself, i recommend finding someone to help, will make it much easier. But they arent that bad, just have to have the ball joint not spin when putting back on. That was the hard part for m.e

Usually on my own with this stuff. I was told the lower ball joint is pressed in place and it would need to be pressed out. ???
I don't know why I couldn't seperate the spindle from the lower control arm. I pried the pickle fork right thru, lifted control arm with wood and floorjack and hit with everything from rubber mallet to a sledgehammer. Crap would not budge. I was hoping to have the TAhoe sitting pretty right now but that was not the case.

Well i feel you on that doing it alone part. Its tough, but ive done everything on mine by myself. Proud to say i did it. but being pressed out, yes i heard that also, it doesnt have to be, maybe anyway, depending upon how hard it is in there. Mine was a PITA to get out. But finally got it. Took me two days to do mine. If you get frustrated sit back take a break and analyze it, might work, i had to. lol. but try the jack thing, thats how i finally got mine, and a big hammer.

Have you tried using a prybar to put downward pressure on the spindle? Usually I leave the top ball joint in and attack the bottom first.

Support the lower control arm slightly with a jack.

Loosen the nut on the lower ball joint but don't take it all the way off. Use it to protect the threads of the ball joint if you hit it.

Now pry down on the top of the spindle and/or upper control arm while you hit the spindle with a hammer. I have a 6ft digging bar that I use for this purpose. I normally have someone hold the prybar while I swing at the spindle. An air hammer may also help!

Good luck!
