I don't know if this has been discussed or not but has anyone found a way to override the MDS? I was wanting to know if it was possible to either have a longer 4 cylinder mode, or even be able to force it to stay in 4 all the time, or turn it off so it will stay in V8 mode. Thanks

I think it can only be done with [aftermarket] tuning. I just got an EFI Live AutoCal unit from BlackBear, and will be getting a tune that hopefully remedies the unsatisfying way my 6-speed performs.

I'm sure someone else will chime in, but it's my understanding that it can only be done via a special tune.

yes it can be done, i dont know about keeping it in 4 cylinder would be a good idea. when i got mine tuned (BB), i was asked if i would like to keep the 4 cylinder mode or to get rid of it completely, i chose to keep it.

Yeah I guess I was thinking more of an option, in the DIC maybe, to select when just cruising down the interstate that would prevent V8 mode until you either turned it off or slowed down to a set speed.

From everything I have learned thus far it can be off or on but can't be adjusted so it is on longer or manually switched. Yes, lots of folks these days would love to have that option and GM would be smart to offer it as a modification. If they really want to prove committment thenwhy not start with something to ease on the foreign oil dependency....guess all their eggs are "electric" ones.

I do recall someone on here adjusting the "power needed percentage" with a tuning program like EFI live or something
