I picked up this Tahoe the first weekend in February this year after deciding I'd buy and build a Tahoe for the same money that my Duramax was going to cost me in maintenance this year. That way I can push off the maintenance for more fun things and get a new daily driver out of it that's slightly less annoying, but also a lot slower :(
Hopefully some of you guys will enjoy my build thread. This is my first Tahoe but I've owned many 99-07 Classic trucks before and have a pretty extensive record of modifying them. Here is a link to the other GMT-800 I currently own which is a Silverado front end swapped to a Sierra Duramax 2500HD with a big turbo and built trans and way way too many other things to list. Should give at least a few of you some ideas for things!

welcome to the forum, looking forward to what you're going to do!

I was pretty lazy today as it was colder than I wanted it to be so I didn't do much at first other than swap all the interior lights and my puddle lights over to natural white LEDs. Not too blue, not too yellow and of course no pics of that because boring and because I forgot.

I got bored doing nothing all day though so I went out to the garage a bit ago and decided to hardwire and mount my radar detector. I used the SEO ACCY fuse in the driver side fuse panel and ran the remote mute button up underneath the steering column. Wiring ran up above the headliner and hidden right next to the mirror harness as it comes down the windshield.

Next I decided to finish up my headunit install by replacing the passenger side cigarette lighter socket with a combo Aux/USB port.

I did this on my Duramax as well but this time I decided to think ahead and make it modular like I did with the sub and so I bought two 1.5ft extensions so that when I remove the center console I can unplug from the dash instead of having to remove the headunit and unplug there.

With everything plugged in above I decided to test BEFORE I installed everything which is backwards of how I normally do things and so you can see both iPod1 and 2 lit up as well as AUX now, success!

Next I notched the center console behind where the top face sits so the wiring can run up easily to the dash.

Then my Knipex cleared the rest of the way.

And finally the finished product!

Love it! Pretty much exactly what I'm going to do, except I'm removing the cigarette lighter on the driver's side for it.

Which pioneer head unit is that?

Never mind... I see that it's the AVIC-8200NEX

Yep, I love it. I have the 8000 in my Duramax. They're pretty close to identical but have some minor quirky differences being two generations apart while still identical hardware.

Today my friend and I started in on the install for my remote start and as everyone knows step 1 for remote start install is longtubes so you scare the shit out of anyone close by when it starts up out of nowhere :D
