Michelin Defender Ltx

My son-in-law is an ASE Certified mechanic with his own very profitable shop. He can afford the best and knows what works because he deals with tire problems all the time. He runs Michelin Defender LTXs on his 2012 Denali and he recommended the Defender for my '03 Yukon. That was good enough for me. Some of the other Michelins he says are not-so-good.

Local shop suggested the YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR H/T G056 over Michelins. anyone have used them?

Yokohama is a decent tire but in no way is it better than a Michelin. Especially for a mere $100 difference.

These were the tires on mine that I replaced. I think you'll be happy replacing them with the Defender LTX's. Tread is deeper and sidewalls are a bit stiffer which allows me to power around corners more confidently when the need arises.

I currently have these stock tires as well - did the mpg drop once you replaced the energy savers with defenders? I love defenders, but I got to use up some tread before I can switch, and these actually ride pretty good imho...

Actually, no. I had no drop in MPG at all. I still get 20 to 22 miles a gallon on the highway depending on how much of a lead foot I have.

I had Defenders previously on my 13 and they were noisy on certain highways. I called Michelin and they were willing to offer up a replacement, but my jerk tire shop told them my vehicle was out of alignment. which I had checked elsewhere and it was fine. So now I am running Premier LTXs on my 16. Quiet as can be....

When I purchased my Michelin Defenders, they gave me a $75 rebate card.

I recommend that you start with Tire Rack, and use their delivered price as a benchmark. Most of the time, I have found them to have some of the best pricing available. But, certainly check out some others, as well.
