Mine was built on Oct 12th. I am pretty sure what happens if they run out of a part the line keeps running and what ever is on the line at the time goes without and is stored. When the part or chips come in they go to the line and what ever is running at the time gets them. They as in GM gets paid when units ship so to them customer order vs dealer stock is no difference. Also shipping off the line is the faster the moving vehicles off a lot to put chips in. Fastest revenue path. In a normal time they don’t have very many customer order so no big deal. GM has really screwed up with their lack of changing there process to prioritize customer orders. Customers are pissed, dealers are pissed and nothing from GM

It would be interesting to know when the production date sticker is applied.

My 2021 Sierra has a July build date for the engine and the production sticker says October. I don't think the engines sit for months before being installed in the chassis, so I expect mine sat for a while waiting for back ordered components and got the production date sticker after it was completed and ready to ship to the dealer.
I’m pretty sure the half ton duramax(baby max) I bought to bide some time until my Denali duramax is built is a 21 and they slapped a 22 sticker on it as it loaded on a trailer to get shipped! Not 100% but 99% sure that the case! Another way GM can keep sticker price up‍♂️ Has none of the 22 updates!

I remember once picking up a load of Mitsubishi 3000GTs in Brunswick, Georgia in September of 1990 and the door stickers on all of them said October!

So apparently GM has a big push to finish 2021s that are on MP hold before the end of the year. I wonder if that means those of us with 2022s on MP are SOL until after the new year.

that could make sense but I’ve seen 2022’s that arrived in Midlothian around the same time (Oct) start showing up at dealers so it isn’t purely a FIFO process.

Mine has been at the Navy Air Base since 11/4. It was set for delivery 12/6 and then that got cancelled. They are having hell getting drivers but yet won't let you hire your own driver to go get it, my dealer has tried since he has 3 there waiting. It's insane. My dealer got cussed out trying to call Jack Cooper to ask why the delivery got cancelled.

My 22 has been sitting since Oct 15th and hasn’t been touched yet.
