Will GM chat give more information than GMC chat? Once we were built they (GMC chat)referred me to my dealer. It’s been a sad 3 months LOL. Like I need to harass anyone else excessively about my stupid SUV.
It was the GMC chat, sorry. They tried referring me to my dealer, and i said they had no information. She tried giving the standard "it was produced, we have no updates on shipping". I asked where it was physically located, and she told me it was there. I then asked if there is anything wrong with it or that it is waiting on and she gave me "We do understand your frustration with the slow pace of the delivery process; however, we are confident that the correct persons are taking the correct steps to deliver every customer vehicle safely and professionally. Shortcuts on this final step in the delivery process are just not advisable. This may lead to some short delays; however, the most important goal is to get your vehicle to your dealership in perfect condition as soon as possible."

Ahh ok. I’m so sick of the run around they give!! If they were honest about what is going on I would be so much less frustrated. Waiting over two months in “pending transport” only to be told this week (after pressing for information) it’s waiting in a chip. Why not just say that from the beginning instead of giving false hope my car is almost ready?!? Grr!!

Totally agree. This is my exact frustration. I can put up with the wait nut just keep me informed or atleast provide me with good information when I ask for it. It really can't be that difficult for a customer service department to do.

The one thing to consider is it is possible, maybe even probable that GM doesn’t really know when they will receive the needed parts to make your vehicle complete. So, what, then, would/should GM tell it’s customers. Because it seems like “we don’t know” is not going to be an acceptable answer…and there is the issue….it sucks, I agree…but clearly they either are missing parts or they have a part they discovered was defective…and are awaiting replacements. My guess is it isn’t just one part, but across all the vehicles, a multitude…and probably way too complex for the normal order info system…

Sure, but heres a certainty: GM decided to keep taking orders as a part shortage was imminent (certain based on crazy lead times these days) and decided to prioritise keeping the factory running over adressing the backlog (the fact they are still pumping out all trims proves this - there is a supply, however small, of all parts and shortages/defects are not 100% for anything).

They hence could have been clear and honest when we ordered and several times since. Someone decided to keep us in the dark, knowing the longer we wait, the more commited we are since we didnt place orders with competitors, also facing long lead times (still often better).

I also feel like Chevy chat gives way more info than the gmc chat
I talked by a guy who did the chats. He told me he worked for Morley who handles Onstar out of Saginaw , MI. I wondered why chat can't ping the vehicle?

So my dealer finally called me yesterday with an update from GM. The dealer has been telling me vehicle has been bayed since production on 5/13. Now on 7/1 GM informed my dealer of multiple issues with microchip shortages and my build has been moved to hold status with no eta on a resolution date. Sales person told me they will keep requesting info weekly, but at this point there is nothing we can do.

6 weeks to inform a dealer like AutoNation of a delay due to parts is absurd. They need to do better…
