Looks like I will have to do without a compass because I'm not paying $350 plus $100 for install just to have a compass.

wow, i love dealer service depts and service techs.

GM should patent that "infrared" compass....they could buy back those 500MM govt held shares.

I wanted to give an update and say that I did go get a new toll sticker and move it to the other side. It seems to have helped a little but my mirror still does it every so often. Looks like the GM tech guy was not trying to screw me.

I will start looking on ebay, I have seen some for as little as $50.

Went by the dealer this mornig because the compass was not working this morning. He said he has seen it before and that it means a bad mirror and that it would need to be replaced.

He said the toll sticker was not really blocking the sensor and plus the sensor is infrared and that the sticker would not cause the problem. He also said that he had seen other cars with this and they did not have a toll sticker.

Looks like I will have to do without a compass because I'm not paying $350 plus $100 for install just to have a compass.

I would have never paid that price at the dealer. I just said that because it's unreal the markup they have.

I need the Gentex 025898 and there's 1 on ebay now for only $29 but the guy can't say if it works or not. I will continue to look.
