... So, I get to repair her Tahoe's rear end. I haven't actually seen the damage yet, but she said she busted the right tail light, she's afraid to open/close the rear door/hatch thing, and naturally the rear bumper took a hit.

The plan is to pull the dents as much as possible, and then sand, bondo, and repaint. I'm looking for a source for OEM rear tail lights, and some info about how to remove the rear bumper cover. I'm a shade tree mechanic so I don't have any sort of certificate to get mechanic discounts, but I'm pretty good at working on cars inside out.

The model is a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ RWD (btw how hard/expensive is it to convert to AWD?)

Why don't you just get a pair of G4 Eagle Eye LED tails? They run about 180-200 shipped off eBay and look great. Way cheaper than buying a new OEM tail and looks 10x better. I hear the AWD conversion is pretty costly... better off buying an AWD Tahoe and selling your RWD one unfortunately :/

Marching orders are OEM all the way. It's my mom's Tahoe, I keep waiting fore her to get bored of it so I can mod it a bit, I really want to get some of them police rams.. err "bumper guards" you know... for SF Bay and LA traffic :D

Your best bet in order to find OEM taillights is probably to check eBay. The trouble would be finding just one, but I always see them for sale.

I will attach a diagram for the rear bumper cover removal. I hope that will help!

Good Luck, and let us know if we can offer any additional help!

if removing the rear bumper takes you longer than 7 minutes, something is really wrong.

1/4" nut driver to remove the 4 screws across the back bumper, 2 on each side, two underneath (believe those are 10mm), two plastic retainers, and it just pops off.

I think I swapped my wifes bumper for the escalade bumper in about 15 minutes.
