Hi guys. I think I'm going to buy this light rack for my '95 hoe, however I have absolutely no experience with mounting/wiring. He also said it came off of his old Silverado... considering how similar the body styles/size/engine/wiring SHOULD be, so in theory it won't be too hard to get them on my 'hoe.

Any advice on exactly what I'm getting myself into?

P.S., yes I know one of those lights need replacement, but the seller claims it just needs a new bulb.

do you have plans for a cargo rack up top later? If so you can get lights mounted on it and it aateaches to your existing roof rack so the only hole you need it for wiring. How it that one supposed to mount?

Well, possibly... honestly, there's much more stuff I need to spend $ on for this truck first... so yes/no. But how could I pass up a set of four KC lights for $35, right? I think, I may be wrong, but I guess I can mount it on the stock roof 'racks' that run vertically. That might just take some bolt on hardware, or maybe a minor weld. I'm really more concerned about the wiring... I have absolutely NO clue how to even get started with that... or even where it should get wired to. I mean, I guess I could mount a switch in the dash on one of those blank terminals. But there's another problem in itself: I'm so new to modifying cars, I don't even have a clue how to remove the dash! Or the headliner, which I'm assuming I'm going to have to do...? I may be in a little over my head, but I gotta learn this shit sometime, haha! Might as well learn on a real good deal like this.

Over on the left where it says TYF Newbie... they aren't lying x) I'm 17!

I personally prefer something that can attach to the existing rack. Generally once the unit is mounted a hole is drilled and a very round cable is put thru a grommet in that hoe and sealed and is best wired thru a relay controlled by a switch for best power connection. A variety of light power kits are available all over that include everything you need. Put the switch anywhere it will fit and be comfortable. As you want instructions or guidelines just ask here on the forums I have access to Service manual info for 92-99 so it is easy to pass it on. As far as being a newbie according to the forum you will be promoted in a few more posts it is not based on your age but posts.

I haven't seen it in person yet, but I think I may be able to mount it to the stock manufacturer luggage racks, would be rad, so no new drilling. Just taking out the headliner/dash and doing some wiring.

Thanks for your advice. I pick it up Monday, and me and some friends are going to turn it into a weekend project. Might as well try that hi-beam quad light wiring project while I'm tinkering around in there, too.

Haha yeah, I know about the 'newbie' classification, I just meant it's really more accurate than it knows x)

But yeah, if you could pass on the info from that service manual, it'd be much appreciated!

"Passing On" the manual ain't going to happen. The source I use is web based. No pdf is available for the complete manual yet. So you will have to be specific with your requests on what you are looking for. Just start a new thread asking what you need so everybody has access to it.
