Your wife drives like a bat out of hell, and/or sits around idling while waiting for the kids with the A/C on?
that'll drop it from 15 to 11 in town real quick.

Good point Eagle!

Hey guys, I'm a noob here but here is my $.02, when my wife drives her 04 yukon with a 5.3 she gets 13mpg. When I drive it, I get 17mpg. That may be your answer. :)

Yeah, now that I think about it, it does. what gives.

The initial startup of the compressor requires a lot of power from the truck's electrical system so when it kicks on you will see a dip in RPMs. Once it is running it is fine. This is kind of like when your A/C at home starts up and you notice your lights dim for a second. Its normal.

wow, since I don't drive it regularly I just never noticed it I'm guessing.

So you are saying that it does this when the compressor initially starts, or every time it cycles on and off?

Wondering if my alternator could be going, cause its dipping a little more than I remember it when that happens.

thanks alot for all the responses, good stuff.
