This is big reason why I got my Tahoe...my F-150 was averaging 12.4...the Tahoe is sitting 16.8 right now!

I think what you are dealing with here is different driving styles. The previous owner(s) might have done 85% highway driving. And if you're now doing 85% city driving, the drop is easily explained. The computer does not reset your mpg with each fueling. It keeps a runing total over the life of the vehicle and how many gallons it has used in it's lifetime. If it ever drops below 10 mpg, then you have reason to worry.

My Z71 has dropped to 11.4 mpg, 98% city driving. But it's still better than the 8 mpg I am getting on my Ford Excursion.

You can reset the mpg on a 2007 and newer which I have done a few different times. I have lived at my current location the last 10 months so my driving habit has not changed. I do not think you can reset 06 and older. Atleast my brother can't fugure how to on his 2006 silverado.

Correct. But it eventually takes you right back to where it left off. In other words, it will give you the average mpg for the life of the vehicle and the amount of gallons used in this lifetime of the vehicle. It doesn't let you fill up, drive 250 miles, and give you the average for that 250 miles.

I dont think this is correct...I reset my trip, average mpg, and gallons used everytime I fill up. If I drive nothing but highway, average MPG will show me somewhere around 17-18...drive only in town and it shows 12-13.

Maybe it is because I reset the gallons used and/or trip meter as well and it uses these numbers to calculate.
