I'm running a stock Tahoe with plans for possibly Long Tube Headers and a CAI...but otherwise stock for now.

Is there any benefit to me for installing an MSD 6AL + Blast Coil?

I've read the literature and I get the idea of a hotter spark, but does it really matter for our aplications?

I think so. I've been looking into this a bit for myself. I'm going to do this in the spring.
As you mentioned, the hotter spark is good. I like the multiple spark idea. I think that may lead to better burning of the fuel, etc.

As I was looking into this, I had decided that just the 6AL would do because I don't need the rev limiter of the other models, but then I noticed that they have a new smaller footprint all digital D-6AL. I'm going to get that one. And the coil.

If you havn't already, you will need to upgrade to the plug wires as well. The manual says that you need helical wire wound wires. It says OEM won't work. IDK, but I already bought and installed the 8.5mm MSD red wires last fall in anticipation of the upgrade.

Waste of money IMO. I noticed no difference when I installed one. Things that worked the best for me were headers, exhaust and a tune when it was stock.

Really? That sucks. I figured that if the race car guys used them, then they already did the research on them and fund them usefull, so why not do what they do.

Alot of guys here have one and report that it smoothed out idle and made starting faster/easier/better.

IDK... Bigemwagon before he got himself banned, recently installed one and said it kicked his trucks ass, woke it up. AtomicHoe and FF40 have one installed and they could tell the difference HERE.

I'm still goning to get one.

I noticed a difference immediately. Other than the much smoother idle and quick starts, it does burn fuel more efficient. After installing check your plugs and adjust the gap accordingly.

Fyre - did you do any other installs at the same time?

For me, i'm skeptical about the capabilities of this things on our rigs...still in info gathering stage :)

It's really easy ... If your ignition system is running good and not having ANY issues, then you will probably not notice any difference. If you have some wire issues, an issue inside your coil, maybe a crack in your cap, corrosion on your rotor, etc and you revamp the system and add a multispark box guess what you'll notice??

that's what i'm wondering..if you complete a fresh tuneup, will this box really add the $200+ benefit? Would it better to invest in a CAI, Headers, Highflow cat instead etc?
