I'm considering a muffler swap on my 05 Hoe. I want to replace the muffler with something I can clamp in and have some growl. Looking at a Walker Exhaust 17809 or simular. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar set up?

I'm looking for something that will be easier to bolt on. I need to get under the truck and measure the factory muffler.

Yeah you need to measure the muffler and buy one the same length. However why not just buy one and have a muffler shop weld it in?

Stupid trying to pick a muffler that will bolt in? Why is it stupid? Because the chances of that happening are slim to none. Get one that is sorta close, and have a muffler shop take care of it. Hardly any muffler is going to "bolt in".

i have always used a flowmaster "knockoff". half the price, good sound, and a nice little oomph in the seat. nothing crazy, but between an intake mod and exhaust, it helps. check a local shop, preferably a guy who does it on his own. most franchises are limited on what they can do and what brands they sell. also, youtube some videos and see what sound youre looking for. ive had "a**hole" loud and "barely louder than stock with a groan for looks" loud. no matter what, make sure to check out options and listen before you purchase! it sucks spending money and then having to spend more next week!

You'll need to take it to a pro and they are going to have to do some cutting and welding unless you get a "cat-back kit". The stock muffler is a single inlet, dual outlet that Y's back together right behind the muffler. When the guy (my friend that owns a muffler shop) cut mine off and I looked at it I was baffled. Truly a stupid design. My friend put a short piece of pipe, the magnaflow stainless steel muffler in place and bent a small piece to connect to the stock tailpipe. It sounds amazing. Nice and quiet when cruising down the highway, nice and deep and loud when I stomp on it.
