Go to the dealership Friday to complete some paperwork. Walked around the new truck..odometer 15 miles.

The rear tailgate wouldn't open. Period. They physically couldn't open the tailgate. One small piece of weather stripping on the LR door was off. I pushed it back on..it seemed okay.

I left and told them to give me a ring when it's really ready to deliver...

BTW, mine sat in Arlington, TX for 2 weeks for "Additional Quality Control Procedures"

*************...$74840 BTW

Ugh, what a disappointment. Embarrassment for the dealer, how do you let the customer see that?

15 miles? I'm seeing 5-7 on most trucks. Wonder if they drove it to a gas station.

No, it came to the dealership that I ordered it from; I'm not a GMC dealer. I went there Friday to pick it up. They couldn't open the tailgate to take the mats out of the trunk. After 30 minutes of attempts, I had to go (work prevails). So they took a brand new car off of the showroom floor and let me borrow that one (one of my porters had dropped me off so I didn't have a way back to my office easily).

Yes, it was embarrassing in a huge way for them. The owner of all of those chain of dealerships lives in my subdivision too!

You just can't make this shit up...

That is what I was thinking.....funny but not in a good way....try tapping your foot underneath to open the rear? LOL.

Sorry bout your bad luck-to say I'd be pissed would be an understatement-just one more reason I'd never buy new-kinda rattles your faith in it right from the start.....Hope it all works out.

This kind of freaks me out. Honestly though, I wonder how rough of a trip is it riding the rails across the country? Anyway, I'm sure the dealer will be able to remedy whatever's wrong and get you on the road in no time. Doesn't inspire confidence though.

Guys, I took delivery of several European luxury Marques...Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, etc. These are built on another continent for petes sake. They come over here in a ship, train, truck, etc. They get here in the same amount of time as a truck built in TX....but when I go to the dealer to pick up those cars, they are simply breathtakingly detailed, white glove inspected and courteously delivered.

These, even at $75k, are still delivered like a Ford Focus...more like a rental car at Hertz....the salesman walks around it quickly, looks for dents, tells you have a nice day..that the key is already inside and the truck is running already...
