this happened to me last year.. decent ambient temps i had no problems.. but when its cold and there is snow.. i have a crap shoot of chance with my 2x/4x/auto switch.. last year i pulled it and re wetted the solder in the switch.. did it again this year but it didn't seem to make a difference..
basically.. its unpredictable.. and feels like shit.. i get wheel slip in 2wd and without pressing the switch.. it feels to me as if it gets thrown into 4x.. binds in tight turns.. pushing thru bigger radius turns.. decreased power (turning all four)..
using auto mode it pretty much stays in 4x.. from what i can tell..
fuhhh... and of course service 4wd comes on if i touch anything..
options:
1)new switch - hope its this..
2)encoder motor is crap - ways to test...?
3)t-case is broke - denali swap..? yeah.. just lock it in awd..
