Safety, yes, this is one of the reasons I drive my Yukon XL. 95% of my driving is on the highway and the last few times that there was a close call it was with a Prius driver. Glad to know that you are ok and that she saved you from a far worse fate. A little bit of buffing should take that right out.

Good that you are ok. Showed this to my wife and why we have the long body and not a mid sized. I know she appreciates it as I do, but this hits the point home even more, especially with the kids and her tooling around town with the distracted idiots.

Got cut off twice on the way to school just this morning because I didn't pull out fast enough into oncoming traffic. Grrrr... Hey long body turning radius won't match a small foreign job, but it will t-bone you to the junk yard and not even think twice. I did get my kids to school safely and without trading paint, so I'll call that a victory for today.

Thx for posting only if to show how well these trucks can withstand some serious punishment. Get well soon!!

Yep. I commute a total of 70 miles a day myself. Mostly fwy. Drive my burb every day. Wife wants me to save some miles by driving her charger but can’t do it man. So I agree 100% something to be had being safe and secure.

Look forward to what the orig poster buys next. Bet it’s a long roof.

 I've been in two wrecks in my life, one was a head-on where a lady drove around a stopped garbage truck into my lane. I was wearing a 3" lap belt, and I stretched enough to hit my head on the rear view mirror. I can only imagine where I would have been had the belt not been in use.

My Dad had a guy run a red light on a highway and my Dad t-***** him (Dad = 59 Rambler, other guy = Buick Electra 225). When everything came to a stop, my Dad had a bruised elbow. The other guy slowly crawled out a back door. The spin, and him not wearing a seat belt allowed him to take a tour of the passenger compartment in that Buick, winding up in the floorboard of the back seat.

Hey guys. Sorry about such a late post. Anxiety, depression, and PTSD has been bad. I had my shoulder checked out and it was fine. Just bad bruising! Insurance has put the other guy at fault, so far my rates have actually gone down! I did catch the guy and get his plates and turned them in dec 2nd. I replaced her with a 2014 Sierra SLT. I did see a post a while that kind of messed with me about if I was actually ran off the road and such and such. Yes, it really happened. Thinking about it now and how it panned out with the police report, the people that stopped must have spoken to the police about it. My insurance and gap covered the majority of it, leaving me with only $1800 to pay. The vehicle went to the local auction and sold in late decemeber For $1710. The engine is on eBay for $1500 from a local resale lot, along with my seats and dash. As far as I know, my bumper is still there. I took my grille home and have it hanging on my wall, along with what looks like the tensioner bracket. I still thank her for protecting me like she did, and I pray that my Sierra does the same if it comes down to it. We have since decided to get rid of the Subaru, due to me being an idiot and quitting my job. But we got a 2014 Camaro LT convertible which lowered the monthly expenses roughly $450. So that helps. Just the vert aspect scares me with if this happens again. Thank you all for the well wishes!! And everyone showing pictures of your accidents you walked away from, wow!!! I hope GMC keeps up with this quality! I really wanted a new Yukon XL, but couldn’t find one in the range I needed and figured I don’t have kids, so I don’t need a bus. And everyone showing their spouses the pictures, I’m glad to be of service, and should the need arise, I pray your vehicle protects you as mine did! That goes for everyone, driving anything!

This is my new girl. Just having issues with the sunroof that the dealership can’t figure out as it works as it wants. When it’s hot, the motor won’t engage, but you can hear everything clicking to send power. Research I’ve done points to the motor, and that’s not a job I want to deal with so I just deal with it.

Looks good. Why didn’t you get another LWB Suburban/Yukon XL?

Good choice on the Sierra and glad to see you are doing as best as can be expected after that blow. Take it one day at a time man.

It would.

I'd be especially interested in seeing what he meant by getting run out of his lane. Often people over react/over correct and run themselves off the road and into bigger trouble rather than letting the person merging without looking/whatever run into their side while trying to keep it straight and slowing down. With no other vehicle visible in any of the photos I wonder if OP just saw somebody coming over and drove himself off the road

In other words, this. Don't drive yourself into a barrier of off the road and flipping all over the place because somebody is merging towards you Unless it's a big rig or opposite direction vehicle or something obviously then GTFO the way

the guy was completely on the right of me and pushed his way into my lane. If we would’ve made contact (which I should’ve let happen) the damage would’ve started at the front fender/front door area and went back. Probably would’ve saved me a lot of headache and anxiety. But instinct to save everyone else kicked in and almost killed myself.
