Hey Esteemed Forum Members!!!
A few months ago, I added a sweet 2004 Yukon XL (SLT?) to the stable. It's replacing an old german horse I drove for years all over the place camping and road-tripping. I'm super excited about making this truck a great camping wagon for me & my 3 old dogs. No more cramming everything in my old wagon to bug out.
So it's got 115K and is in excellent condition - it was a bit less than 8K. I like to think I got a decent deal - it's got some sweet wheels and oversized tires on it already. No lift - it's high enough. AWD of course.
It's not without it's issues which is what brings me here. Suspension warnings popping up on the DAC - which I **finally** got to read out in English! The smog station made it spanish somehow.....ooooops.
Anyway I had it looked at and the compressor is bad and the shocks probably too. The shop is recommending an aftermarket Arnott replacement for about $800 in parts but there's Strutmasters too (for about $400 in parts I was told). Are there other options? The ride in the truck is AWFUL.....like it shudders and I can feel every freaking pebble in the road. Shocks are bottomed out I think...but it sits ok.....Is Strutmasters a good replacement or should I just pony up for the Arnott stuff.
Good idea to replace OEM AutoRide or bad?
Thanks,
Rob
