My build, 99 Tahoe 2dr, sas 1ton, Now twin turbo LS swap!
New here, figured id share my build.
1999 Tahoe 2dr sport, truck is super clean with 80k orig miles, currently has the vortec 350 with 60e trans, 60e is fully built with pretty much everything you can do to a 60e, vortec is stock aside from intake/gibson headers 1976 D44 front/d60 rear, not really sure how much total lift i have currently, but the truck is now on 40" Irok's, and the bottom of the door, is just above the tops of the tire, measures 41 inches
I had debated doing a single turbo LS using the 6.2 i have, However The gf and i have pretty much decided to do the cummins swap instead as we plan to drive this a decent amount, and the fuel mileage will be a welcome change!
The plans are as follows..I picked up a 79 HP D60 to replace the front D44, Going to keep the rear 60 for now and see how long it lasts with cummins power and large tires, If it fails, likely will either swap in the D70 i have, or find a 14BFF if need be, hoping the d60 rear lasts awhile as it has a disc conversion, with new brakes LOL.
Power plant is going to be a 2001 Cummins 24v pulled from a dually, with 128k miles, waiting on an engine stand that will hold this thing up, at that point i'll replace the headbolts with headstuds One by one, just like i did in my cummins ram and worked flawlessly, it will also get new gaskets, and some fresh paint/detail work, Im undecided on if im going to keep the VP44, or Ppump swap it, My 2001 daily driver cummins is still vp powered, and ive never had any issues from it, and its making 600rwhp, Turbo choice im still kind of up in the air on, Likely going to be a 63mm over an S483, along with 250 horse injectors, and one of the spare airdog 200gph pumps i have laying around.
Trans will be the 47re, which will be built by my trans builder(did the 47re in my DD cummins, and its been amazing), Tcase will be the np272
Really the only other mods that are going to get done, will be cleaning the frame up a little bit, and spraying it with some chassis black, stereo system is going to get a major overhaul, along with the front clip, im looking for a road armor bumper, and its going to get a new grille/headlight setup.
Tires are going to be 44" swampers, might go with boggers or tsl's not really sure yet, Ill cross that road after the swap is done....Anywho, heres a few pics
I think i figured out the picture issue, i needed to have 5 posts, so hopefully this works.
My cummins, and one of my transam's in the background.
In the shop getting detailed
Engine bay and random frame shot
my son who loves tires, cant get him away from them when hes outside!
He just wants to drive!
Son and daughter in the back seat, poor kiddo, humidity makes his hair go nuts! haha
Weeee bit to tall to fit in my gf's garage at her house haha, Sidenote, my S55 mercedes can ALMOST fit under the Tahoe, I know it will when the 44's are on it!
The 01 Cummins going in the Tahoe, excuse the garage mess, Too much **** going on at once, My turbo WS6 is in the garage undergoing major changes.
